Let’s ask the Captain: How you did you like the Atlantic Crossing in a sailboat and what were your impressions? In the first few days, I hardly knew an answer to the question and just said amazing or great. In the meantime (5 days later) I reflect a lot about the question and realize more and more what really makes the trip special for me. Here is a first summary, but there is more to come: We decided to join the ARC (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers ) and that was a great decision. The route that...

Ambra Update Day 9 Die Tage kommen und gehen.

Hi guys! It paid off to wait two days in Gibraltar. We are in the final approach in Lanzarote after 80 hours sail in constant wind of 20 Knots from Gibraltar. Perfect sailing, great experience, delicious food, caught a tuna and had fun. Happy sailors need some rest…..

Sailing across the Atlantic in the tradewinds is one of the biggest adventures in sailing. In most cases, the crossing is the culmination of years of planning and preparation. We are living in Germany and Austria but we are planning to live on board most of the time. We are still working and our goal has been to have a boat as a “mobile office and Hotel” for ourselves, family and friends, and sail across the Atlantic. We are still working out the best gear and preparation for undertaking...
